Why Hire A Professional Cat Sitter?

Cats are very territorial creatures by nature and highly sensitive to any change in their environment or routine.   When left in their own home, where they feel comfortable and secure, they experience  much less stress.  It's bad enough they have to be without you, their adored human, don't make them leave their safe haven, too!

A professional cat sitter makes leaving kitty home possible.

Asking a neighbor or friend to stop in to check on kitty may not always be a good idea. They could be too busy or not as conscientious as you would like and might not recognize the subtle indications of an ill or injured cat or follow the care instructions you left.  It's just a fact of life in these hectic times where there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in a day to get it all done. It isn't necessary to risk ruining a good relationship over your need for kitty care while you are away.

A professional cat sitter provides peace of mind.

Leaving kitty alone with a huge bowl of food and water might seem all right but you are risking your devoted friend's health and safety. Kitty could become depressed or bored if left unattended for longer than usual. This can lead to illness, failure to use the litter box, overeating or loss of appetite, which can become fatal in only a few days. What if you miscalculate and kitty eats all the food sooner than you expected out of boredom, drinks all the water or even spills it? Not to mention how stale the food will become and how dirty the water will get.  And what about the litter box? Cats are very fastidious about their hygiene and could very well decide to use the floor once the box becomes too full and smelly. This may continue even after your return and could be very difficult to correct. There is also the chance that kitty could get stuck somewhere, tangled in something or other peril. It happens more times than you would think.

A professional cat sitter will be there to tend to your feline's needs.

Cats are 'self-sufficient' compared to dogs only because they use litter boxes. They cannot order in more food if they run out or call 911 if they get sick or injured any more than a dog can. Their need for love and attention is also just as important, and their ability to show their affection and devotion is no less impressive, although, perhaps, a bit more subtle.

A daily visit from a professional cat sitter can mean the difference between a happy, healthy kitty and an injured, sick kitty.

What About Boarding ?

In the rush to prepare for your trip, the last thing you need is the added pressure of taking kitty to the kennel or vet.

A professional cat sitter provides convenience.

Plus, with boarding, regardless of how meticulous the facility is, the risk of kitty contracting diseases and parasites such as fleas, ticks and ringworm does exist.

A professional cat sitter keeps kitty healthy.

And let's not forget how miserable and abandoned your furry feline will feel confined to a cage for hours on end smelling strange odors and hearing unfamiliar sounds including barking dogs and other stressed out cats. Kitty may even refuse to eat, which can be fatal within a very short time. Your faithful feline has no way of knowing when or even if you will return. Your trip out of town doesn't have to mean 'jail time' for kitty.

A professional cat sitter keeps kitty happy.

On top of all that, those with multiple kitty households will have to pay the boarding rate for each one. The cost of a professional cat sitter will be lower in most cases. Also, if you leave kitty home, you won't be at the mercy of the boarding facility's schedule and quite possibly have to pay for an extra day or two.

A professional cat sitter saves you money.

There are circumstances where boarding would be a better option such as with an injured or ill kitty that requires around the clock care and special medical treatment.

When you have a professional cat sitter care for your kitty(s), he/she will be 'safe and sound' ready to happily greet you with purrs and head butts when you return home instead of giving you the cold shoulder or hiding from you for hours or days.

How My Service Works

First, a no charge 'get acquainted' visit is set up so we can go over the forms, which I would have mailed beforehand for you to complete, as well as detailed instructions regarding the care of your kitty(s) and home. I will also pick up two keys and full payment at this visit.

You will then be able to leave on your trip with a clear conscience knowing your precious companion(s) will receive loving care, second only to yours, in the comfort and familiarity of their own home while you are away. When you call Safe and Sound, you can say goodbye to guilt and worry.
